1 tsp vegetable oil

1tsp grated fresh ginger

1 clove garlic, crushed

400g firm tofu, drained and cut into cubes

100g green beans, halved

1 tbsp sweet chili sauce

2 tsp soy sauce

2 tsp honey

1 tsp sesame seeds


1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan over a medium heat, and fry the ginger and garlic for 1 minute, stirring continuously.

2. Add the tofu and green beans to the pan, stir well, then cover and cook for 5 minutes.

3. Stir in the remaining ingredients except the sesame seeds, and cook, uncovered, for a further 3 minutes or until all the liquid has been absorbed.

4. Serve sprinkled with sesame seeds.

3 tbsp Sesame oil

1 clove Garlic, crushed

¼ Red onion, chopped

1 tsp Crushed red pepper flakes

200g Firm tofu, cut into cubes

100g Edamame beans, blanched and halved

2 Spring onions, chopped

2 tsp Soy sauce (optional)

Prepare all the ingredients.

Add the sesame oil to a hot wok and add the garlic, onion and red pepper and fry for 30 seconds.

Add the tofu and fry for 2 minutes.

Add the edamame beans and spring onions and fry for a further 2 minutes.

Drizzle over the soy sauce, if using, mix well and remove from the heat.

Serve immediately.

Spicy Tofu Fritters

These crispy fritters make a delicious snack or can be served as part of a meal. They are a great way of using up leftover tofu and vegetables. They can be difficult to flip so you may wish to have someone to help you!

Serves 2


Cooking Time 1 hour

2 tbsp Oil

2 Onions, chopped

1 Green pepper, diced

¾ tsp Salt

350g Firm tofu, mashed

1 cup Wholewheat flour

½ tsp Baking powder

¼ tsp Baking soda

0.5 tsp Cumin seeds

½ tsp Turmeric


Prepare all the ingredients.

Add 1 tbsp of oil to a frying pan and fry the onions until transparent.

Add the green pepper and ¾ tsp of salt and fry for 5 minutes.

In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, soda and cumin seeds and turmeric. Add the tofu, vegetable mixture and ¼ cup of water to the dry ingredients and mix until it forms a batter (you may need a bit more water if the consistency is too thick).

Let the batter rest for 10 minutes.
