How Can I Prevent Dryness?

There are many ways to prevent dryness:

Don’t Smoke

One of the most effective ways to prevent vaginal dryness is to stop smoking. Smoking has been shown to have a negative effect on vaginal moisture because it restricts blood flow and damages tissues. If you are having problems with dryness and you smoke, quitting is highly recommended.

Heighten Your Awareness

If you experience dryness on occasion but it isn’t that big of a problem for you, then you may choose to do nothing. If, on the other hand, dryness is causing you to experience pain or discomfort then you may want to try heightened awareness. This means being aware of when and where your dryness is worse.

For example, if you find that you experience vaginal dryness mainly before your period, then you may want to keep extra pads in your purse just in case.

Add Lubricant

Adding a water-based or silicone lubricant can also be helpful in treating dryness. These types of lubricants are safe to use for vaginal moisture and can be found at any drugstore or online.

Coconut Oil

Another option for vaginal moisture is coconut oil. Coconut oil is unique because, in addition to helping with moisture, it has antimicrobial and antioxidant properties.
