Bad Breath: What Causes it?
The causes of bad breath are not fully understood. However, there are several factors which may contribute to the formation of bad breath. These include genetics, diet, stress, smoking habits and other health problems such as diabetes or heart disease. There is no single cause for all cases of bad breath but rather many contributing factors. For example, certain foods have been associated with different kinds of odors in general. Some of these foods include onions, garlic, cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli. Other common food ingredients that may contribute to bad breath smell are coffee, tea and alcohol.
Baking Soda for Bad Breath
There are various ways to get rid of bad breath odor. One way is through baking soda. Baking soda works well when used regularly on your teeth and gums to eliminate the odors caused by bacteria or yeast growths in your mouth.
When baking soda is applied to your teeth, it dissolves the hard plaque and stains that make up most of the bad breath. If you do not want to use baking soda, then you can try using lemon juice instead. Lemon juice has antibacterial properties and will work just as good as baking soda does.
How Does Baking Soda Work?
Baking soda works by reacting with acids found in saliva (the liquid part of our blood). It helps to neutralize the odor-causing acids. Baking soda also has cleansing and deodorizing properties that help to remove debris and stains from your teeth.
When using baking soda on your teeth, you should try to brush with it at least once a day. If you do not brush with it every day then you should at least try to rinse your mouth out with it. One good example of a toothpaste that uses baking soda is Arm and Hammer toothpaste.
Try using this toothpaste instead of other types of toothpaste and you will be able to reduce bad breath.
Does Baking Soda Work on Other Smells?
Baking soda works well in eliminating bad breath odor. It can also be used on other smells as well. For example, if you have a dirty toilet that has a foul smell, try pouring about a half cup of baking soda into the toilet. Let it sit for about an hour and then scrub the toilet with a brush. The toilet will have a fresh scent and your bathroom will also have a fresh scent. You can do this every week or so, it is completely up to you.
Does Baking Soda Help With Body Odor?
Baking soda has various uses in eliminating body odor. As mentioned above, you can use it on your underarms to eliminate odors caused by sweating. In addition to this, you can also use it to get rid of foot odor. To do this, first soak your feet in warm water mixed with baking soda. Soak your feet for about 10 to 15 minutes and then you can dry them off and put on a pair of clean socks. Try to repeat this once or twice a day and your foot odor should start to disappear within a week.
If you want to eliminate the odor caused by gas then you can drink a mixture of baking soda and warm water. You need to use about a half a teaspoon of baking soda for every eight ounce of water. Drink this twice a day.
This will help to reduce the amount of gas that is absorbed into your system.
Baking soda is not just for getting rid of bad breath. There are many other uses for it as well. Hopefully, you can start to implement these uses into your everyday life!
