The answer is yes, but only if you are careful. Some things to consider before eating sushi:
1) Do not eat raw fish!
Raw fish contains parasites which may cause infection or even death if consumed in large quantities. If you do decide to eat raw fish, cook it thoroughly first.
2) Avoid all products with high sugar content such as fruit juices and sports drinks (even water).
Sugar causes your baby’s blood sugar level to rise, which makes him more likely to get sick.
3) Do not drink alcohol during pregnancy or after giving birth.
Alcohol can affect the unborn child adversely and increase the risk of miscarriage. Also, drinking too much alcohol while pregnant can result in stillbirth or premature delivery.
4) Always wash hands thoroughly when handling raw fish and other potentially contaminated items.
Wash them well so they don’t become infected afterwards!
5) Avoid eating raw or undercooked meat.
Meat can contain bacteria that could make your baby ill.
6) Never feed raw seafood to children younger than 6 months old.
They have a very small stomach and would not be able to digest it properly.
7) Do not eat anything that smells bad or looks rotten.
There are many cases of food poisoning each year. You do not want to be one of them!
8) Avoid unpasteurized dairy products (such as goat’s milk).
They contain harmful bacteria that can make you sick.
