Is it just me or is my sexual desire higher than usual?
I mean I feel like every guy wants to bang me right now! Well there are several reasons why this might be happening. Here are some possible causes:
1) You’re not getting enough sleep.
If you don’t get enough sleep, your body will produce less testosterone which affects your libido negatively.
2) Your hormones are out of balance.
If your hormone levels aren’t balanced properly, then your libido may suffer greatly.
3) You’re stressed out.
Stress can affect your mood and make you feel depressed which can lead to low libido. Stress is something most men experience at one time or another in their lives but if you’ve ever been diagnosed with depression, then you know how bad it can really impact your life.
4) You’re too busy.
Too much work, too many responsibilities, too little free time…you name it, you probably have a lot going on in your life that’s keeping you from being able to focus on anything else other than yourself.
5) You’re not having fun anymore.
Maybe you used to enjoy it when you were younger but lately all those good times seem to be slipping away and now even the thought of enjoying yourself seems impossible.
6) You’re in a relationship with someone you don’t really like but for whatever reason, you don’t want to end it.
Whatever the case may be, the fact still remains: you’re noticing a lower sexual desire than usual and you want to know what you can do about it.
A lot of people would just dismiss this as a first world problem and that you should get over it but the reality is that every one of us can’t be blessed with great health, youth, carefree attitudes and lots of free time. Some of us have been dealt a crappier hand than others and I’d say a lower libido is something most of us would classify under “a crappy life”.
But don’t despair! There are things you can do to combat a lower than average libido and get back to enjoying yourself and feeling good again.
Get More Sleep
Stress can also be a big factor in lowering your libido so the first thing I would highly recommend is getting more sleep. When you don’t get enough sleep your body releases excessive amounts of cortisol which is the stress hormone. This causes your body to release less testosterone, one of the main hormones responsible for desire and arousal.
I know a lot of people say they don’t have time to sleep but if you’re experiencing low desire it would definitely be worth the sacrifice. I recommend at least 8 hours a night, 10 would be even better.
Try not to nap during the day because this can also mess up your sleep patterns if you do it too often.
Get Your Hormones Checked
One of the main reasons for having lower sexual desire in men is due to hormonal imbalance. If you haven’t done so already, I’d highly recommend you go see a doctor and have your hormone levels checked. In addition to low testosterone, other hormones such as DHEA, estrogen and thyroid hormones can also affect your sexual desire.
