How to Pop Blackheads: A Step-by-Step Guide
The first step in getting rid of blackheads is to use a bobby pin. You need to keep it clean and dry so that it doesn’t break off during your daily activities. If you have any doubts about using a bobby pin, then just try to use cotton swabs or toothpicks instead.
Cotton swab will not only work better but they are much cheaper too!
You need to make sure that the bobby pin does not come off when you bend down and pick something up. You can do this by putting it inside a plastic bag or even put it in a small box. Also, make sure that there isn’t anything else around that could cause the pin to fall off.
For example, if you are working at home then don’t place the bobby pin on top of some papers or other things that might scratch it.
If you want to get rid of blackheads without using a bobby pin, then you can apply regular face masks. These products contain alcohol which helps in removing the dead skin cells from your face. They are available at most drug stores and supermarkets.
Make sure that these products don’t contain any harsh chemicals such as benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Alcohol is known to irritate the skin and may cause acne scars if used excessively. So avoid using them if possible!
Another thing that you can do is find a facial scrub. These can be used to remove dead skin cells without any excess irritation. You can find them at most department stores and drugstores too.
They are also relatively cheap so they won’t break the bank! Be careful of these types of scrubs though since they might cause small cuts on your face. Especially if used excessively!
How much do blackheads cost?
To get rid of blackheads using the steps in this guide, you can expect to spend around $15. This amount is based on the average price for a box of bobby pins which contains 50 pins. It is possible to purchase a pack of 100 bobby pins online for just over $6. The exact brand and style of bobby pin doesn’t matter since they are all basically the same.
How do I know if I have blackheads?
If you have clogged pores then you most likely have blackheads. These are small openings on your skin that appear like tiny dots. In medical terms, they are known as skin micro-porations. The common causes of blackheads is excessive oil in the skin. It is believed that people with oily skin types are more prone to getting them. There are a few home remedies that can be used to get rid of them. You will learn about these and other tips in the following sections.
How to pop blackheads properly:
1. Use a blackhead extractor tool:
One method for removing blackheads is by using a proper tool such as a comedone extractor. These tools have different size loops and pins that are used for blackhead removal effectively. They are available at most pharmacies and beauty supply stores.
2. Use a warm towel:
Sometimes you can get rid of blackheads simply by keeping a warm towel on the area that has the blackheads for 15 minutes. You want to make sure that it is not too hot so that you do not end up burning your skin. This is a great way to get rid of blackheads that are not too deep within the skin.
3. Use a pore strip:
Another effective way to get rid of blackheads is to use pore strips (also called nose strips). These are adhesive tapes that have been impregnated with an ingredient that loosens up the blackheads and other matter that clogs your pores. They are put on the area with the blackheads for a period of time and then they are removed.
The blackheads and other stuff will then stick to the tape. These strips can be bought from most drug stores and supermarkets.
4. Use an astringent:
If you want to get rid of blackheads quickly you can try using an astringent. These are products that contain alcohol and are used to dry out the skin. Using them for too long may cause the skin to become excessively dry which could lead to flaking and even infection.
They can be found at most drug stores and super markets.
5. Use Egg Whites:
This is an old method that can be used to get rid of blackheads. All you have to do is whip up an egg white and apply it to your face. Let it dry and peel it off after about 10-15 minutes.
This will effectively remove most blackheads and clean out the pores. You can also apply it like a mask and keep it on overnight.
6. Use Warm Salt Water:
Another simple way to remove blackheads is by making a thick salt water solution and putting it on your face with a cotton pad. Leave it on for about 10-15 minutes and then wash it off. This will help pull out the impurities from your skin and open up your pores making it easier to squeeze out the blackheads.
7. Use a Toothpaste:
There are many over the counter products that contain salicylic acid which is meant to help remove blackheads. If you do not want to purchase these products you can use plain toothpaste as a substitute. Apply the toothpaste to your nose and leave it on for about 10 minutes after which you should be able to easily remove any blackheads that you may have.
8. Use an Alum Block:
An alum block is a type of antiseptic that can help tighten your pores and get rid of blackheads. It is available at most drug stores or you can even make it at home by combining a pot of water, a cup of hot vinegar, and a teaspoon of alum. Soak a piece of cloth in the mixture and apply it to your face for about 5 minutes.
9. Use a Blackhead Vacuum:
This is by far the most expensive option but can be very effective. These are devices that you place over your nose that has a small vacuum like suction device that helps to open your pores so that the blackheads can be extracted more easily. They can run anywhere between $50-$100 and are available at most department stores.
10. Use a Benzoyl Peroxide Treatment:
While astringents work by drying out your skin, products that contain Benzoyl Peroxide actually kill the bacteria and remove the dead skin cells that clog up your pores in the first place. This treatment is considered to be the most effective way of preventing blackheads from forming in the future.
Whatever treatment option you choose, make sure that you always read the instructions before applying these products to your face and do not over do it. Too much of anything can be bad for you. Also keep in mind that it can take up to eight weeks to see any real results so do not get discouraged if it does not work right away.
In addition, it may be a good idea to see your doctor or dermatologist if the problem is especially severe.
