How to Diagnose, Treat, and Prevent Thenar Eminence Pain:

The symptoms of thenar eminence pain are similar to those of other types of chronic back pain. These include muscle spasms, tightness in the chest or abdomen (pneumothorax), shortness of breath (respiratory depression) and fatigue. There may be some tingling or numbness in your fingers and toes when you move them around too much.

Treatment of thenar eminence pain includes physical therapy, prescription drugs such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen, acupuncture, chiropractic adjustments and non-pharmacological treatments like massage and meditation. Some people with thenar eminence pain have found that yoga helps them feel better. If you experience any of these symptoms, it is best to seek medical attention immediately.

Symptoms of Thenar Eminence Pain:

1. Muscle Spasm

Muscle spasms are common among people with thenar eminence pain. They cause the person to become very tired and sometimes even fall asleep. The muscle spasms often occur at rest but they can also happen during movement. The muscles that are affected most by thenar eminence pain include the calves, hips, thighs, lower back and neck.

2. Tingling

This symptom causes numbness or tingling sensations in your fingers or toes. These may be caused by decreased blood flow or a pinched nerve in the arm.

3. Loss of Coordination

You may experience loss of coordination in some cases of thenar eminence pain. This could manifest as clumsiness and tripping or dropping things. It can even lead to a temporary loss of feeling in certain parts of your body.

4. Loss of Sensation

When you have thenar eminence pain, you may lose all feeling in your fingers or toes. You may also lose feeling in other parts of the body, such as the tip of your tongue.

5. Numbness

Being unable to feel anything is another common symptom of thenar eminence pain. This feeling can be unsettling and scary but it is a good indicator that you are not experiencing any permanent nerve damage.

6. Weakness

When you have weakness, one or more of your limbs feels like it is either heavier than it should be or almost non-existent. You may also feel as if your limbs do not belong to your body.

7. Tingling Sensation

This symptom is similar to tingling but instead of numbness, you experience a tingling sensation. This is not a good sign and it could mean that you are experiencing nerve damage. If you experience this, seek immediate medical attention. It is fairly common in people with thenar eminence pain.

8. Swelling

The swelling in thenar eminence pain may occur in the arm or hand. If you have swelling, it can cause a tingling or even burning sensation. It can also decrease your ability to move your fingers and may even cause them to curl into a fist position.
