Where to get these supplies:
Where to put all your new found herbs:
While it may seem like you’re fairly well off after you finish rebuilding your home, you’ll still have a lot of space to decorate.
Rather than build a separate bedroom or make another walk in closet, you decide to turn one of the caverns you live in into a “buzz shop”. This is where you dry your mushrooms, which you need to turn into pills.
You make a shelf to place the mushrooms on and place another shelf above them to start drying. That should keep the moisture out and allow them to slowly “ripen”. Once they’re dry, you’ll be able to process them into pills.
After a few days, you place the mushrooms in a pan to “break them up” so they’ll be easier to process.
While it’s a tedious process, you do eventually end up with enough to fill several pharmaceutical jars which will last you quite a while.
During this time, you have also been able to create other types of pills. There are a few “standard” meds to treat depression, anxiety, pain, and other issues that people face. You also have the ingredients to make stronger types of pills, but you’re not quite brave enough to do that. Instead, you stick with the standard issue.
You also have various other pills that you’ve seen people take in the past. You have a few “smart drugs” which allow one to process information faster and more efficiently. These have seen quite a bit of use in the past, especially among politicians and businesspeople.
You also have a few ” aphrodisiacs ” which are strictly for pleasure. Naturally, you have kept these out of reach of your more impressionable customers.
Your store is doing well, but it’s not exactly the most bustling business. People are still wary of living too close to the city center and a few other places. Still, with some effort, you’re managing to make enough money to keep the lights on. You’ll have to decide whether or not to expand again when the time comes.
And the time definitely will come.
One year later…
One year has passed and your business is doing well, but not so much that you’re struggling. The City Watch isn’t as much of a problem now, but they’re still a force to be reckoned with. People seem to be of a more jovial mindset now, though the only time you’ve really seen much activity is during the evenings and late into the night.
During the day, people seem to be content on just drinking and doing a lot of their activities in the taverns and inns. There’s been a bit of an increase in open drug use as well. You aren’t really into it, but you aren’t one to judge.
You’ve got a lot of people coming in and out. Almost all of them seem to be content. A few have even started to make a little extra money by giving “tourist” guides of the city. Apparently it’s very popular among those looking to explore a new place.
However, most of them are just here to take advantage of the cheap prices and stay for a few days. You get the impression that they’re mostly wandering adventurers. The only ones that seem to be staying for an extended period of time are the college types or those who just really like the place. (And subsequently, you think, yourself.
Xenos isn’t too bad either)
Still, enough of them are staying here that you’ve got a solid base of repeat customers.
You’ve got rooms available as well as a few other services. Prostitutes and gambling of course, but also the selling of illegal drugs and prostitutes.
Yelena is open on Friday and Saturday nights, though currently it’s not doing well. You’ve got one “working” girl on the floor right now, who you are forcing to work against her will. She’s making next to nothing, less than the $200 a night place across town was paying her.
You’ve been trying to convince Xenia to work here instead, but so far she’s refused to budge. (And for good reason, apparently she’s busy a lot.)
You need to get more people in here, but you’re not sure if it’ll actually help. You could keep the place open later, but then it’s not really serving anyone. You could probably get some of those college types to stay up all night and chug energy drinks, but again, not a great investment.
Of course you could just limit the services offered here…
You have an idea.
A week after you make the decision to cut back…
You lock the door to your store with a sigh. It’s a little early, but you’re done for the day. Right now, you’ve got barely anything, and you’re wondering if you won’t have to lay off any of your staff again.
You’re sure you could get by with less people, but it really sucks having to do that.
Walking across the room, you head upstairs and into the bathroom. You’re a little dirty from the day, and throw your gauntlet into the corner of the mirror as you begin to undress.
That’s when you hear the noise.
You turn around, towards the bathroom door.
That noise sounded like it was right behind you.
Is someone in here with me?
You have no idea, and there’s no one. You’ve been alone in this room for the past hour.
Something broke in the corner of your eye. You look, and see the gauntlet that you tossed into the corner earlier. It’s in pieces now, and something is protruding from the other end of them.
This something moves a little, and you jump back in surprise. In the broken gauntlet is a small figure, that looks to be made of bone. It looks up at you, it’s red eyes glowing. It opens it’s mouth a little bit, like it’s about to speak, then bursts forward and bursts out of the wall!
You scream as it runs directly at you. It screeches, and you hear it’s bone claws shatter the glass of the very window it broke through. It misses you completely, but doesn’t stop. It barrels straight for your face, screaming the entire time.
You try to run, but trip over your clothing and fall right into it’s open maw. You barely even have time to scream before you’re torn apart.
Gotta get out of here!
You run back into the bathroom, and quickly shut and lock the door. You look around, trying to find something to break the window with, but there’s nothing in sight.
