These acids slow the effects of carbohydrate digestion and help your body assimilate sugars at a normal pace.

The problem is, some coffees have more CGA’s than others. This means that some coffees can actually help people with blood sugar problems, while other coffees won’t do anything at all. So you need to look for a high-CGA coffee or learn how to make your own!

If you decide to go the store-bought route, look for a brand of coffee that specifically says that it has a high level of CGA’s on the package. A few good examples are: Trader Joe’s “Everyday” ground coffee, Green Mountain’s “Cafe Solo” instant coffee, and Diedrich’s “Jungle Juice” coffee.

To make this type of coffee, you will need a coffee maker that has a grinder built into it. (If you don’t have one of these, you can find them for fairly cheap at most department stores). Grind up 4 level tablespoons of coffee beans.

(This is the equivilent of 2 espresso shots). Fill your coffee maker’s water chamber and turn it on. Wait until the water has dripped through the machine and into the holding tank. The machine is now ready to make a cup of coffee. Add 2 tablespoons of half & half (or milk), 2 tablespoons of agave nectar, 1 tablespoon of oil (can be either vegetable or coconut oil), and the ground coffee into the filter basket. Once again, turn the maker on. After 4 minutes, your coffee should be ready to drink!
