How to Freeze Avocado:
The first thing you need to do is get rid of the skin on your avocado. This will make it easier for the ice cream maker to scoop out the creamy center. If you don’t have a peeler or want to spend money on one, then just slice off a piece of the fruit with a knife, but if you are going this route, be sure not to break any of its tough flesh! (I know I wouldn’t! )
Next, you’ll want to put the avocado into a large freezer bag. You can either buy one already pre-made, or you can make your own from aluminum foil. Just remember to leave enough room around the edges so that when it’s placed inside the freezer, it doesn’t touch all of the way up to the top.
Now place that bag in your freezer until you’re ready to eat it!
How to Thaw and Use Frozen Avocado:
Once you’ve got your avocado in the freezer, simply take it out when you’re ready to enjoy it. When you’re ready to eat it, simply unwrap the foil and allow the ice cream maker to do its magic. Once again, be careful not to damage any of the fruit! (And no, I’m not making another batch! )
After it’s finished, you can either eat the ice cream in its current form or add toppings to it. Personally, I tend to prefer my ice cream without toppings so that I can taste the different layers of flavor. Of course, if you’re anything like my sister, you might like it better with toppings on it!
