Are There Any Side Effects of Not Releasing Your Sperm (Ejaculating)?

There are no known side effects from not releasing your own seminal fluid. However, some men may experience pain when they have been ejaculating for a long time without release. These symptoms usually disappear after ejaculation.

The most common symptom is discomfort during urination. Other possible symptoms include:

Painful urination due to a blocked urethra.

A feeling of incomplete emptying of the bladder due to a tight sphincter muscles. This condition can lead to urinary tract infections (UTIs). Some cases of UTI require surgery such as cystoscopy, while others resolve spontaneously with treatment.

Urinary retention, which occurs when too much urine accumulates in the lower part of the bladder. This condition can result in painful urination and urinary incontinence. Urinary retention can also occur due to other causes such as diabetes mellitus, kidney disease, obstructive uropathy (a problem caused by a tumor), or tumors that block the kidneys.

Other conditions that might cause pain during urination include: pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and prostate cancer.

Less common side effects of not ejaculating can include:

Low energy levels.

Headaches.

Loss of sexual desire (low libido).

Difficulty achieving orgasms.

If any of these problems persist or get worse, see a doctor. Reaching and maintaining your sexual peak requires good blood flow to the genitals. If you experience any of the problems listed above, they may indicate a serious medical condition that needs treatment.

In some cases, sexual dysfunction may be a side effect of certain drugs. If you are concerned about your sexual function, your doctor can help you determine if the problem is related to a medication or not.

Does Semen Have Any Health Benefits?

The jury is still out on this question. Some men have claimed that their vision has improved after not ejaculating for extended periods of time. There are also claims that men feel more “awake” and “healthy” if they don’t ejaculate for a period of time.

In reality, these claims have not undergone any scientific testing. There are no studies indicating that they are true or false. If you feel that not ejaculating is improving your life in any way, then there is no reason to stop. However, if you are experiencing any problems that were not present before, you may want to see a doctor about it.

Is There Anything Else I Should Know?

It is common to have wet dreams if you do not ejaculate for long periods of time. This is because the seminal fluid that is normally absorbed back into the body is released through sexual dreams, causing a wet spot in your underpants or pajamas. There is no need to worry; this is perfectly normal and happens to almost all men at some point in their lives.
