Are Bananas Fattening or Weight Loss Friendly?
The answer is yes!
There are many reasons why bananas might not be the best choice for weight loss. However, there are some things that you need to keep in mind when choosing your next banana snack.
1) They’re high in calories.
A medium sized one contains over 200 calories (and counting). That’s almost twice as much as a slice of bread!
2) They’re high in sugar.
One medium banana contains about 17 grams of carbohydrates. That’s nearly 3/4 cup of sugar! And that doesn’t even include the fiber, which adds another 4 grams per serving.
You’d have to eat 6 bananas a day just to get half their daily value of dietary fiber!
3) They contain potassium, but only if they’ve been ripened long enough.
If they haven’t been ripe long enough, then they’re pretty much devoid of any nutritional value.
4) They contain vitamin C, but only if you buy them from a store that sells fresh fruit.
Otherwise, they don’t contain any vitamin C whatsoever. Vitamin C is especially important for those with compromised immune systems because it helps fight off infections like colds and flu.
5) They contain potassium, but only if you cook them first!
Uncooked bananas are completely devoid of any valuable nutrients. They do contain some beneficial nutrients, such as dietary fiber and manganese, but not nearly enough to make them worthwhile as a food choice.
There are many reasons why bananas might not be the best choice for weight loss, but perhaps they can be used in certain circumstances. If you’re working out excessively and need quick energy, then bananas can help you replenish some of your spent sugars. They can also help you digest food quicker.
On the other hand, bananas aren’t going to help you lose weight. So if you want to lose weight, then avoid eating them unless you work out excessively and need that extra boost in energy.
When you’re working out excessively, you can eat 1 or 2 bananas to help boost your energy levels and aid in digestion.
If you’re dieting to lose weight, then avoid bananas, because they’re very high in sugars and will only make it harder for you to lose weight.
One medium sized banana contains over 200 calories! So if you eat 3 of them (which is not unlikely), then you’ve consumed nearly half the amount of calories that most women should consume in an entire day! Best to stay away from bananas if you want to lose weight.
How to Pick a Banana:
1) Find some bananas that have dark brown spots all over their skin.
2) You’ll find these types of bananas in the grocery store, usually near the other fruits and vegetables.
3) Once you’re back home, cut the banana in half lengthwise with a knife (scissors don’t work), and then remove the skin.
4) The bananas are now ready for consumption!
How to Cook a Banana:
1) Get a large pot and fill it with water.
2) Bring the water to a full boil.
3) Once it starts boiling, add the banana and allow it to cook for 2 minutes.
4) After the 2 minutes has passed, remove the banana from the heat source and drain the water.
5) Your banana is now ready to be consumed!
The banana is the most popular fruit in the entire world.
It ranks just behind milk as the number one food that people consume on a regular basis.
There are thousands of different types of bananas, but only a few are widely sold and eaten in the United States. These include the Apple, Pisang Mas, Lady Fingers, and the Cavendish.
A single banana tree can produce up to 400 bananas each year, but only about 10% of these will be perfectly ripe and ready for consumption.
Bananas are not grown on trees. They’re grown from a large bulb called a corm. A corm will grow a stalk and leaves before it eventually blooms into a flower.
Once the flower dies, it will then grow into a small banana. This whole process can take about a year.
There are over 100,000 different varieties of the banana.
Bananas are not even considered an actual “fruit”. Its classification is “berry”, because it’s not as sweet as most other fruits and it contains a large seed in the center of its fruit.
The banana is the largest herbaceous flowering plant. It can grow up to 20 feet tall in some cases!
The average person has about 1 ½ pounds of bacteria in their stomach right now. Some of this bacteria is from the bananas you ate earlier today.
Bananas are naturally green. They do not become yellow until they have been exposed to sunlight. Therefore, if you find a banana in the wild that is yellow, then it’s probably ripe.
Even though you may see brown spots on a banana, these are not a sign of rot. These brown spots are a sign that the banana has had all its nutrients and is ready for consumption.
It’s impossible to kill a banana plant by pulling on it or tearing its leaves off. The plant will simply grow back whatever was pulled off of it.
Just like your fingernails and toenails, banana peels grow. You are not supposed to eat the peels, because the peel contains small amounts of toxins that can be harmful if consumed in large quantities.
Marmalade is a type of spread made out of banana peels. It’s mainly eaten on toast or crackers.
Bananas can also be eaten raw, cooked, candied, put in cakes or pies, juiced, distilled into alcohol, stuffed, and so much more!
Banana plants are not grown from seeds. Instead they produce flowers that grow on the side of the stem. Each of these flowers then grows into a small banana.
Once this banana is ripe, it falls off the stem and a new one will grow in its place.
A farmer found a way to grow bananas in Pennsylvania. He built a greenhouse that was so successful that it was called “The Garden of Eden”.
Bananas are good for your teeth. They have natural fibers that help get rid of plaque and food from your teeth.
The average American eats 27 pounds of bananas every year.
The Philippines is the biggest exporter of bananas in the world.
Chiquita, Dole, and Del Monte are the biggest banana companies in the world.
In some places, bananas are used as building materials. They’re especially great for roofing material, because they keep your house from leaking.
Humans are not designed to eat bananas. Our mouths are not shaped right to eat them and our bodies cannot digest all of the nutrients in them.
It takes 3 years for a banana tree to produce its first batch of bananas.
Banana plants are grown all over the world, but bananas are most commonly grown in Central and South America, Indonesia, Philippines, and parts of Asia.
Bananas can only be picked while they are green. Once they start to ripen, they fall off the stem. They are then placed in large bins and taken to factories where they are packed into containers.
Most bananas that we eat in the United States are grown in Central America or The Caribbean. They are then shipped to distribution centers in Boston, New Jersey, or New Orleans.
It is illegal to transport a banana in New York City without cleaning it first.
You’re never more than 15 feet away from a spider, even if you’re in the middle of nowhere. There’s probably a spider nearby, even if you don’t see it.
It’s possible for you to be bitten by a spider and not even realize it. Many people develop a tickling sensation when they’ve been bitten by a spider, but do not feel any pain or experience other symptoms.
There are no poisonous spiders in North. America.
Most spiders are not likely to bite unless they are provoked. A spider will typically only bite when their habitat is threatened or invaded, they feel trapped and can’t get away, or when someone disturbs them.
Spiders can survive underwater for up to 30 minutes.
The average spider lays 2000-3000 eggs during its lifetime.
The average lifespan of a spider is one year.
Spiders are carnivores. They eat other insects and arachnids, as well as small reptiles, birds, and mammals.
There are more than 4000 different species of spiders.
In one year, a single spider could create a web that would cover 3.5 acres. If all these webs were somehow placed on top of each other they could cover the entire state of California.
Some spiders eat their own webs to recycle nutrients.
Spiders are predators and have special toxins that immobilize and kill their prey. They then inject digestive liquids into the prey in order to extract nutrients.
Spiders don’t have lungs. They breathe through little holes in their carapaces.
The average, well-fed spider could spin enough silk to cover the territory of the United States 2.4 times with no overlap.
A single strand of spider silk is stronger than a piano string.
Although there are several different types, the average spider has 3 sets of jaws. The first is the main set used for chewing food and breaking it down. Spiders also have two smaller sets located near their fangs that help them cut and prick your skin so they can suck out the juice.
Spiders have been on this planet much longer than humans. They are one of the most successful species on Earth because they’ve been able to adapt to almost every type of environment.
Your body temperature is too hot for spiders. They prefer temperatures around 81 degrees Fahrenheit.
Spiders can grow back their legs if they lose them.
Sight and touch are used to detect prey and enemies. They also rely on vibrations to sense possible prey, predators, or even people.
Spiders can survive up to several weeks without food, depending on the species.
Most spiders have a life span of about one year.
Spiders can regenerate and re-grow body parts, including missing legs and eyes.
Most female spiders eat the males after mating.
