#1: Get Up and Move
Getting up and moving every once in awhile helps keep your mind alert. You need to get out of bed, go outside, or do something else to keep yourself awake.

You can also take advantage of the outdoors if it’s not too cold where you live. Just make sure that there are no other people around when you’re doing this!
9. Drinking Plenty of Water
If you drink enough water, you’ll stay hydrated and will be able to stay awake longer. 10.
Avoid Sugar and Processed Foods
These foods contain sugar which can cause you to become sleepy very quickly. They also tend to have artificial flavors and colors which may interfere with your ability to fall asleep better than natural ingredients such as fruit juice or milk.
Exercise keeps your heart healthy and boosts your energy levels. It also helps you burn calories so that you can stay awake longer.
When you’re sleepy, it’s easy to make mistakes like drinking too much or eating something unhealthy. Make sure to visit your primary care physician every year and take advantage of preventative health care.
You can eliminate toxins from your body through natural methods such as exercise, drinking lots of water, and eating healthily.
Should You Drive While Sleepy?
While driving sleepy, you are significantly less aware of what’s going on around you. Your reaction time will be much slower, and you won’t be able to concentrate nearly as well. Not only is this extremely dangerous for you, but it’s extremely dangerous for everyone else. If you’ve ever fallen asleep for just a few seconds while driving, then you already know how treacherous it can be.
Why take that risk?
Find an alternative method of transportation.
If you have to drive, then try the following:
1. Turn Up the Radio
Turn up the volume on your radio all the way and try to concentrate on the music rather than how sleepy you feel. Music can be a great way to take your mind off of how tired you are.
2. Turn Along the Dashboard Lights
Turn on every light that you have inside of your vehicle. This will keep your eyes from getting sleepy and help to keep you awake.
Make sure that you are not wearing sunglasses while you do this! You may also want to try turning up your car’s air conditioner or heater as well.
3. Watch the Road Ahead of You
Do not watch the clock on your dashboard as this can make you even more sleepy. Instead, try to look far ahead of you down the road and anticipate when you will have to brake or turn a corner.
This will keep your mind occupied and off of how tired you feel.
3. Pull Over and Take a Nap
If you are truly feeling drowsy while driving, then find the nearest safe place to pull over and take a nap for a couple of hours. Make sure to set an alarm so that you won’t be asleep for too long.
You don’t want to end up sleeping through the night and into the day when it’s time to go to work or school!
If you don’t feel safe pulling over on the side of the road, then try a rest stop or a gas station. These kinds of places are significantly safer than your car would be.
Even if you don’t have any money, there is still less risk of being robbed or hurt.
These methods should help to keep you awake and aware while driving. If you find yourself nodding off or feeling sleepy again, then repeat the steps as many times as you need to.
If you have a long trip ahead of you, then you may want to consider taking a plane instead of a car. While this takes a lot more time and effort, it’ll be well worth the lack of sleep that you’ll get from driving.
Sitting in one place for an extended period of time is much less likely to make you sleepy than being in a car.If you don’t have the money for a plane ticket, then try to set your own driving schedule. For instance, if you live in New York and are visiting family in California, try to drive during the day rather than during the night. In addition, stop at hotels every couple of days to sleep for a few hours rather than trying to drive all the way through without stopping. This will increase the amount of time that it takes to get to your destination, but you’ll be doing your health and safety a favor.
