Risperidone (Serenity) Side Effects:

The most common side effect of risperidone is insomnia. Some people experience mild restlessness while others experience severe restlessness. Many people have experienced that they feel less energetic after taking this medication. They may even experience depression or mania symptoms. There are many other possible side effects which include dizziness, nausea, headache, dry mouth, diarrhea and weight loss.

Risperidone Dosage:

It is recommended that you take this medication at the lowest dose possible. You must consult your doctor before starting to use this medication. The minimum effective dosage of risperidone is 1 mg per day. If you want to try a higher dosage, then it would be best if you start with a lower dose first and increase gradually until reaching the maximum tolerated dosage.

What Is Risperidone?

Risperidone is a prescription drug used to treat schizophrenia. It is available in different strengths ranging from 0.25 mg up to 10 mg. The recommended dosage range for this medication is 0.5 – 3 mg per day. This medication works by blocking dopamine receptors in the brain, which causes hallucinations and delusions in schizophrenic patients.

Risperidone For Sleep:

Many people who take risperidone as an antipsychotic medication have trouble sleeping because of the negative side effects such as increased anxiety and restlessness. If you’re experiencing trouble sleeping, there are a few things that you can do to improve this condition. You can try taking the medication at night to help you sleep better, eat a healthy diet in the evening and avoid stimulants such as nicotine and caffeine.

Risperidone Dosage For Sleep:

The standard dosage for risperidone is between 1 mg and 6 mg taken once per day. If you want to take a larger dose you can split this into two smaller doses taken during the day. It is not recommended that you exceed a daily dosage of 6 mg. You should never take more than 2 doses per day. Some patients may only require a low dosage of 0.5 mg per day in the form of a long-acting injection.

You should never change your dosage unless your doctor specifically tells you to do so.
